As always, your posts make me think. If someone you are speaking with isn't engaged in your conversation--should they be looking around the room/space, eaves dropping on a nearby conversation or distracted/disinterested for whatever they think is a legit reason, their are just plain RUDE. Regardless of how disinterest I may be in a conversation, I would listen until I was able to politely excuse myself.

I try to listen. It takes effort sometimes not to be thinking of what’s next or what do I have to do or say. Since being more mindful to listen, I have been pleasantly surprised by many conversations.

It does take effort to listen for sure. And when you do it can be pleasantly surprising and sometimes quite informative.
