Getting older is tough to take on occasion. At certain times I feel it. And I shake my head sometimes at the things I do … things I wouldn’t have done 30 years ago. It’s shocking and certainly a WTF moment.
I know I’m getting older when I go to a bar with my husband to listen to live music and we sit far away because it’s too loud and we can’t hear each other talk.
I know I’m getting older when it’s 9:30 and I go to bed.
I know I’m getting older when I talk about how expensive everything is.
I know I’m getting older when I’d rather stay home and enjoy the fireplace instead of going to a party.
I know I’m getting older when I want to have an afternoon power nap.
I know I’m getting older when it no longer matters what people think of me. I’m at that point where I’m confident in who I am and more importantly I like who I am. Wait a minute, that’s not so bad.
On second thought I guess there’s the odd time getting older isn’t tough to take after all.
Until the next time.
I agree with everything you wrote and recently learned a new acronym: JOMO - joy of missing out. I used to go out at 10 pm. Now, I'm getting ready for OR are in bed at that time.
The longer we live, the more comfortable we are in our own skin. And wow does it feel great!
How funny and amusing ! I can totally relate to each point… chuckle ,chuckle! I think the last point says it all! We get to a point in our lives where we are what we are and we feel okay with it! This is a good thing! Thanks for a great piece!👏🏻👏🏻👍🏻😊
