My parents had them, I have them, my children have them (if I had children) and my grandchildren have them (if I had grandchildren) … slang words and phrases. My point is every generation has their own slang, their own phrases, their own meanings.
I thought it’d be a fun exercise to research some of the popular words and phrases from different decades starting with the 1950’s. Why the 50’s? Well I was born in 1959. A simple but adequate reason I think.
So, without further ado … slang or words from the decades:
1950’s - “Big brother is watching you”
1960’s - “Far out”
1970’s - “Catch you on the flip side”
1980’s - “Gag me with a spoon”
1990’s - “My bad”
2000’s - “BFF”
2010’s - “Chillax”
I know I’ve used some of those myself over the decades. How about you? Were any of these part of your vocabulary?
Until the next time.
