Sometimes I think in order to write these blurbs or whatever we’re calling them I need to have skin at least 3 inches thick. And sometimes I think it isn’t necessary. It all depends on the reaction to the current published piece of course.
Case in point … I recently wrote a ramble about the story of dimes. Some people liked it by clicking like or leaving a comment, some people I believe were neutral because they read it and moved on.
Then there’s the few that clearly didn’t like it as it pushed them to click the unsubscribe button. It’s a blow to the ego.
And thankfully there’s the people who read it and subscribed to read more. A huge boon to the ego.
Each instance is proof to me that every publication elicits many different reactions so I’ve learned to savour the good, shake off the bad and continue in a forward direction. Every publication represents a fresh start.
Just as …
It’s true … I believe every day is a fresh start. Some are good, some are bad, some are so-so and collectively it’s your life.
Thankfully I personally have more good days than so-so or bad days so I’m sitting pretty sweet right now. But, over the years, I’ve learned things can change in a blink of the eye.
So I try to live each day to the fullest. I try to be kind and generous to others. I try to do something that makes me happy and I try to have a good laugh at least once in the day. Life is too short not to. Don’t you think?
Until the next time.
Everybody is looking for something different when choosing what newsletters to read.
"You can't please all the people all the time" is one of my favorite sayings because it's true, and not necessarily in a bad way. Whatever we write will appeal to some, but not to others. And that's okay. I'd rather resonate with a small group than be ignored by a large group of subscribers. So, write on!
All so true. Writng is my balm. I think you feel the same way.
