I watched a lot of the March Madness basketball games this year. I watched young adults playing basketball, packed audiences cheering on their team and youth just having fun. To me they all looked like they were having the time of their lives. It brought back some wonderful memories of my college days. It reminded me of how much fun it was to be that young and virtually carefree.
It was a time of innocence and freedom from responsibility. It was also a time of study, of personal growth, maturing and getting ready to be an adult. Some days I miss those times and other days I don’t.
Fast forward and I mean FAST to where I am now at my age and there are many parallels to back then.
Then I had little responsibility, now at retirement I have little responsibility. Then prior to debt, I had lots of spending money, now mortgage free, I have lots of spending money. Then I went to a lot of restaurants, now I do the same. Then I lived in a great town. Now I live in a great town. Then I was active and now I’m active. Then I was happy and now I’m happy. Hmm … looks like very little has changed except age.
Until the next time.
What a positive and uplifting perspective as opposed to the same old tired complaints of aging. The glass is half full...Cheers!
I hadn’t thought about it before, but yes!
