Every so often we all have to make a decision that others don’t understand but it falls within our comfort levels which guide us. Recently I had to do that … make that decision despite knowing I was sounding contrary or perhaps irrational.
Since I can remember I’ve never wanted or enjoyed having any pictures of myself out in public. Yes, some of my actions such as writing this blog seem to go against that but if you look carefully you’ll see there are no pics of myself anywhere here. And on social media pictures of myself are only accessible if you are my friend. And if you are my friend it means either we personally know each other or you are friends of trusted friends of mine.
Back to the story … a charitable group I’m a part of recently won an award for work we did to help women in crisis. The founders of our little group thought I should be included to attend the luncheon. What an honour, but I didn’t want to be in any pictures. Yes, it was probably a pain for them BUT they went out of their way to ensure I could attend, enjoy the awards ceremony and not be in the pictures unless I chose to be.
Sometimes sticking to your comfort level works out.
Until the next time.
Congratulations on the achievement award …I know you work very hard and dedicate many long endless hours to contribute so wonderfully to the women’s crisis centre …
Have you ever heard of the 23 and me DNA test kit ..it’s a kit you buy and send your DNA sample away to be tested and they send you back information about your genetics …I’ve never done it but Helen has …it was truly an eye opener …a lot of our traits ,mannerisms ,likes ,dislikes are in our genetics !! I bring this up as I too have never ever liked pictures of me taken even my wedding ,even when I was young and thin !! LOL!! I’ve never thought of this until you wrote about it …most people don’t understand but I just found it kinda unique that you and I would feel so strongly about this ..I truly think it could possibly be a genetic thing for us as not many people have this feeling ..maybe ??? Maybe coincidence …I don’t think so !! It could very well be a genetic trait ?? Something to ponder !
Absolutely! I'm learning this lesson in my "wisdom years," as I like to call it (as opposed to the more traditional "old age"). 🤣
