Some things are just worth the trouble.
Friendships are worth the trouble. Going out of my way to stay in contact with someone, texting them or a quick phone call to say “hey” can sometimes feel like it’s a lot of trouble in our busy lives but at the end of the day … it’s worth it, actually it’s more than worth it.
Working out is worth the trouble. Inline skating is just one of the things I do and unfortunately not very often any more. But it is one of those things that I can’t picture a day when I won’t want to skate. Sometimes it can be a hassle getting myself out there skating … driving to a path or arranging appointments that won’t interfere or getting up super early (4:30-5:00 a.m.) to skate the roads. There are other factors involved. During the off season I need to stay in relatively decent shape in order to be skate ready come Spring. This means indoor workouts and lots of them. Things like kickboxing, cycling on my trainer, yoga and various HIIT workouts can be a pain although I have found I do enjoy most of them so at the end of the day … it’s worth it.
Writing these little blurbs is worth the trouble. It may take a little effort to come up with things to write about but the connections with people make it all so worthwhile. And as for likes, replies, shares and subscriptions, they just put it over the top.
Giving time to a charitable organization is worth it when you realize just how much a few hours means to someone else’s life. It is so effortless and can make such a huge difference. A little bit truly goes a long way.
Donating gently used household goods, furniture or clothing to a charity is worth it for many reasons. This stuff stays out of our garbage sites and more often than not it is given to some families that are struggling to make ends meet in these horrific times. The little effort it takes to drop stuff off at a local charity is nothing compared to the huge difference those items make in someone’s life.
I could sit here and continue the list because at the end of the day I truly believe that everything in our lives one way or the other are “worth the trouble”. It’s starts with your attitude and snowballs from there.
What’s worth it to you? I’d be interested in hearing.
Until the next time.
