We enjoy road tripping. So much so that we did a 14 day, 4 city trip starting in Montreal, Canada and ending in Medina, New York before winding our way back home. There were actually 3 more overnight stops which were basically fall into the hotel bed, sleep, wake up and get to the next city for a 2 or 3 night stay.
We started in Montreal, Canada staying downtown so we could shop and also cycle to the top of Mont Royal in the heart of Montreal. Here’s a few pictures from and around Mont Royal. Although it wasn’t a great distance from our hotel it was a tough ride on hilly roads and a winding path.
Our next stop was one night only in Fredericton, New Brunswick. A quick stay on our way to Antigonish, Nova Scotia which would be home for 3 days.
What can I say about Antigonish? Visiting friends is always a treat, especially when you’ve not seen them for a long time. Their home, right on the ocean had an incredible view from their deck and from their private beach. Lobster dinners, brewery tastings, moonmist ice cream and chocolate from Peace by Chocolate (Google their unique story) made the stay even more special.
Next stop Saint John, New Brunswick overnight with a detour to the Flower Pot Rocks in the Bay of Fundy. Google them, they’re interesting and amazing to see. Here’s a couple pics to whet your appetite.
Our next stop was Bar Harbor, Maine for the seafood and Acadia National Park. Both were amazing to experience. The seafood was delicious and fresh & the park was spectacular. We cycled 2 days and if we had more days in the area we would have cycled every single day.
After Bar Harbor and the splendour of Acadia National Park we had a quick one night stop in York Harbor, Maine. A gorgeous beach town with plenty of great restaurants and funky stores. We spent an enjoyable night there. Here’s a pic of the incredible view from our room.
Next stop Medina, NY for a day of cycling on the Erie Canal Path. Medina is the perfect example of small town anywhere. Old buildings, friendly people and a few good diners.
This 14 day road trip took us through four Canadian provinces and four US states. All in all I’d say it was a great path travelled.
Until the next time.
Sounds like a lovely trip!
I love traveling and experiencing new places. Thanks for giving us a peek into your awesome trip!
