My husband/business partner and I were supposed to retire 5/31/20 but Covid had other ideas for us. We owned a business in the accounting field and just couldn’t abandon our clients. So we stuck around to help them navigate the shutdowns and restrictions Covid created.
Finally well over 2 years later all clients have been passed on to another bookkeeper. There’s been some retirement adjustment for me but not overly much because for quite awhile I still had some clients that filled about 4-6 hours a week. So I felt that I was still working.
To fill in the other hours I did longer workouts and read more often. Then I started painting (just paint by numbers) and enjoyed it. I also did a few more jigsaw puzzles and enjoyed those too. And now this “newsletter” which I’m enjoying. It’s light and may not be for everyone but it satisfies my need to write and be heard.
I’ve got other things on my to do list … travelling, interest courses, more gardening, more skating & cycling and just more me time. Every single day is like being on holiday. I’m hoping to make my retirement an epic adventure.
Until the next time.
I'm retring in August this year after working in public accounting for 40+ years. The idea of not having another tax deadline is the dream of my future. I plan on traveling when I want and not having to worry about scheduling it around a tax deadline. I don't know what my future holds, but I know for sure that I'm going to enjoy it and do the things that I want to, when I want to without any regard to the day on the calendar.
It’s so nice that you are able to retire …all things happen fora reason…it is your time now !
Wishing you always joy and happiness as you move forward with your retirement plans!!
Cheers! Congratulations!!!
