There’s a kids poem or perhaps a song and it goes like this …
Rain, rain go away
Come again some other day
We want to go outside and play
Come again some other day
As a kid I often chanted those words on a rainy day. I wanted to be outside playing with friends or riding my bike or just hanging around. I didn’t want to be inside looking at the rain fall.
Many years later, I’ve changed my tune. I like rain. I like listening to it fall. I like splashing in its puddles. I like how green the grass is after a long rain. I like that it nourishes the earth. I like how it cleanses. I like how it smells. I like how it magically comes from above.
What is rain? According to Wikipedia, rain is …
“water droplets that have condensed from atmospheric water vapour and then fall under gravity. Rain is a major component of the water cycle and is responsible for depositing most of the fresh water on earth.”
What do I like most of all about this condensed water vapour … I like how it provides life. For without water, there is no survival. There is no life.
Until the next time.
Falling rain is my favorite sound when going to sleep, soothing and relaxing. It's been raining all day today and I haven't left the house, which is fine with me. The errands can wait; today will be restful and quiet with only the sound of the raindrops on the roof!
The only thing we enjoy more than listening to the rain falling on the leaves outside the bedroom window, is seeing and listening to a thunderstorm while safe, warm and comfy
