One definition from The Urban Dictionary of phobia is …
Extremely exaggerated and irrational fears of things. Arachnophobia is an extreme and irrational fear of spiders. Someone suffering from this will either run terrified from the sight of it or possibly pass out and faint from pure fear.
Sounds relatively reasonable to me. Having said that I do have a couple irrational fears of my own. In no particular order …
Getting stuck in an elevator. I avoid elevators as much as possible. If there are stairs and where I’m going is what I consider a reasonable number of flights I’ll take the stairs every time. Of course there are times when it’s impossible so I suffer through the elevator experience.
Car washes that require the driver to stay in the car. I never go through them, ever.
Driving over extremely high bridges. I never ever drive over them. I will as a passenger BUT I’ll look anywhere but down.
Getting dental work done. I go for regular checkups, cleanings and repair but ever minute feels like torture to me.
Doctors … see above.
There are probably more but they must be relatively insignificant since I can’t think of them. How about you … any phobias? Do tell.
Thanks for reading.
Until the next time.
Omg! I think everyone has a fear of something …it’s just now with our society ,people are more comfortable coming forth with them ..I'm not crazy about heights either and I absolutely absolutely hate mice …had this fear since a little girl on the farm ..can’t even watch or see them on tv or pictures ..…just petrified of them! Yikes! I also will not go to see any movie that is scary or violent ..I just can’t handle any of that extra scariness that seems to excite others , not me …I’m a big scaredee cat ! LOL! I have more but would absolutely bore you ! Too many to list !! 🤔😊
Mine is trypophobia. Makes me squirm!
