We’ve all done it, haven’t we? We’ve put labels on people. We justly or unjustly labeled them with catchy little words like bitch, clown, dumbazz, dingbat, and whatever other rude, comtemptible word pops into our mind. On the other hand, we’ve most likely also labeled people as brilliant, beautiful, handsome, delicate and any other number of gracious or semi-gracious words.
I like to think I don’t often label people but, that’s just lying to myself. I do, more than I’d like to and some of the labels I’ve come up with haven’t been the nicest. It’s happened with people I barely know and people I don’t know at all. You know what I’m talking about … the dumbazz that cuts you off in traffic, that clown who can’t figure out how to get money from a debit machine or perhaps the dingbat on the other end of the customer service line that will not help you. Yes those may be extremes, but to be honest, I admit that under my breath I’ve labeled some people not too kindly. I need to work on this because ….
“Really, who am I to pass judgment and put a label on someone I’ve never met or barely know. I don’t know their situation or circumstances . I’m not walking in their shoes.”
It’s as simple as that.
How about you … be honest with yourself, do you use labels? Are they kind? Something to think about, isn’t it.
Until the next time.
I think we all do this ..it’s called venting ! Lol! It’s human nature …you’re right about we don’t know what’s going on in their lives … everyone has issues or circumstances to deal with …as long as one doesn’t confront an individual..or tells that person what they’re thinking ….or be unkind…but I think we all do it not intentionally to be harsh ..and we also probably do things that others think were like way out there…I know I do!! Lol
