I don’t understand the word hate.
According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary hate is …
“Intense hostility and aversion usually deriving from fear, anger or sense of injury; extreme dislike or disgust; antipathy, loathing”
The meaning is easily understood. I guess it’s not the word I don’t understand, it’s the idea of hating something or someone that I don’t understand. Don’t get me wrong. I have an aversion to some foods and some people but I don’t hate them. I dislike them.
I think hate is such an ugly, mean word often used to deliberately hurt people. It’s used to break them down, put them down and make them feel unloved and inadequate.
I try not to use it but there are times when I hear “I hate” come out of my mouth. I try to correct myself with “I don’t like” but it’s not the same. Once it’s used it’s almost like there’s no turning back. So I’m doing my best to cut it from my vocabulary. It’s a good thing.
Until the next time.
I agree with you totally! I don’t think I’ve used the word more than a few times in my life…it provokes too much negativity both ways…I’ve tried in the last ten years or more to focus on positivity …better for all !
I agree...people throw the word 'hate' around too easily (myself included). I guess we should pay closer attention to what words we're using and in what context.
