I’ve always liked flowers. It started when I was a child picking my first dandelion which led to picking flowers to bring inside the house. The smell of the flowers brought a bit of the outdoors in where they could be enjoyed during meals, first thing in the morning and before bedtime.
My mom’s flower gardens held wild roses, hybrid roses, daisies, snowballs, peonies, lily of the valley, lilacs & lily’s. And those were just the perennials. She also planted a multitude of annuals of varying heights and colours. My favourite changed year over year. And as I aged I appreciated all of them more and more. Today I can’t name just one favourite. I love them all and they all bring me joy.
These days I still love to cut flowers to bring inside to enjoy. And during those seasons without outdoor blooms my husband or I on occasion will buy from the local market. But, if our orchids are blooming we just enjoy them because they are spectacular if I do say so myself.
And at special times like this past Easter we were thrilled to have a pot of purple hyacinths blooming and filling the air with their sweet scent.
As I said, flowers bring me joy. How about you?
Until the next time.
Your flowers are gorgeous...Kudos to Joel and his green thumb!
They're wonderful to get and give...and grow. I'm trying my hand at a small wildflower garden to draw hummingbirds. Wish me luck!
