Dreams … a series of thoughts, images, and sensations occurring in a person’s mind during sleep.
… a cherished aspiration, ambition or ideal.
says Oxford Language.
There’s nothing more satisfying in my opinion than seeing people achieve their dreams. I’m personally fortunate to be living my dream. I’m retired, spending my days doing what I love with the person I love, have lots of friends and have everything I could ever need. Ultimately that was my dream … it’s simple but works for me. Everyone has their own dreams.
There’s the friend that always mentioned one big dream … to turn the family farm into a golf course. Yup, you read that right. When he mentioned it the first time I thought pessimistically “Sure, keep dreaming.” When he mentioned it a few times over the years I still thought “uh huh, keep dreaming buddy.” Apparently he did keep dreaming because he turned that dream into reality. I saw it awhile back and it’s a wonderful place. Made all the better because I could picture the farmland it had once been and I could see what it had become and it’s spectacular.
And the other friend I worked with in the restaurant business that always wanted to own a restaurant … well not one but many. He moved from one restaurant to another always moving up the ladder until finally he moved to the right restaurant that believed in his dream as well. He was given the opportunity to own it and he jumped on it. Years later, he just opened his 7th restaurant.
Their stories sound simple but I’m sure the road to their dreams’ success was anything but. They both told me some similar things. Their success is a result of hard work, perseverance and listening to others advice because they knew they didn’t know everything. Personally I think one more thing should be added … “believe in yourself.”
I guess the take away here is … anything is possible if you dream big, work hard, dig in, listen to & learn from others and finally, believe in yourself.
Until the next time.
**It’s a day of celebration for me. “Dreams” is my 100th published ramble. And if you’ve followed my writings you may remember that writing was one of my dreams. Having my stuff read makes it even better. So a huge thank you to all of you for reading, subscribing, liking, sharing and commenting. Without you my voice would be silent.
